Being brave is something I was never intentional about. I never felt brave, even though I did some dangerous things in my life. People might say it was brave to get married at 20 to someone I barely knew, to move across the Pacific to the tiny island of Oahu without friends or family, to pick up and move whenever I felt like it actually, to publish my books for others to read and criticize, and the list goes on. The thing is, before I always did these things a whim, not because God was leading me to do these things. Today I want to talk a little bit about what it means to be brave, but be brave as a woman of God. Now THAT takes some real bravery.
I recently started reading "100 Days to Brave: Devotions for Unlocking Your Most Courageous Self". It all started when I picked Brave for my One Word challenge. A month later I was browsing through Target, which is not a usual activity of mine, and Annie's book practically jumped off the bookshelf at me. I couldn't ignore the sign from God to read it so I bought it and now I'm twenty-five days into it. I have to tell you...I LOVE IT!
“Then, God looked over all he had made, and he saw that it was very good!” (Gen 1:31,NLT) “You are the God who sees me.” (Genesis 16:13)
This is not a complete list of all scripture used in my upcoming book, and it may include more than I am going to use in my book, but all of it is great for you to digest and live off of. I hope it provides you with strength, encouragement, and bravery for whatever it is you're facing in life and in your walk with the Lord. Pick out a few that really speak to you and leave it around for little doses of wisdom and strength. Write it on a piece of paper and use it as a book mark. Grab a dry erase marker and scripture up your bathroom mirror. Whatever it takes to keep some of these in front of you at all times, it's worth it! You're worth it!

With "Game of Thrones" hyped up during its final episodes, I thought it would be a great time to take a look at one of my favorite fictional characters, Daenerys Targaryen---mother of dragons, breaker of chains, and a whole slew of other names. Though she doesn't always display characters of Christ in her actions, can any of us say we do as well? Lets dig deeper into her redeeming qualities that make her a wonderful Warrior Princess.
This is a big one, ladies. It's a game-changer if you're not already practicing what most like to call the attitude of gratitude. It is one of our strongest weapons against the enemy we have.
